ECU Powerchip for E350 4Matic.
Hey guys, searched the forums on this but found only limited information. Does anybody here installed the Powerchip ECU on a E350 4Matic and what were your results? I just can't justify minimal gains for $700 that they want for it. Please chime in. Thank you.

usually there are minimal gains, and what you do gain is usually at the higher end on the RPM range which is not used often in normal driving. You will also suffer a drop in gas mileage, since the chip is designed to add more fuel to the ECU map. Now if your doing bolt on upgrades (headers, head work, cam, etc) then a remap is probably necessary...

I had my ecu Powerchipped. Better low end torque and I now can finally spin off the line. Noticeably better topend too...and here's the best part, 10% INCREASE in my gas mileage. My best on the freeway before was 27.6mpg, and now is 29.9mpg. Both times it was a cold night drive home @ 70mph in cruise control.

Your engine is still in its infancy. Keep driving it and you'll get better gas mileage. I have 1350 on my engine and currently I'm only getting 23.5 mpg on the highway. I'm expecting to reach 26 ~ 28mpg within 6 to 9 months.

I have 7k miles on mine the the best I've seen on a 150 mile highway drive was 27.1 mpg. I normally see 24.x mpg on the highway. For the last 5000 miles my average is 20.5 mpg. That includes a good amount of San Francisco hill driving and I also have a heavy foot.

The only real downside is having a modified ecu, which could pose a problem at some dealers if you have a warranty issue that can be linked to the tune. Some of us don't mind, but it's best to know the risk upfront.
I had mine done about 5-6 months ago though and drive pretty hard, with no problems.
NewMrBenz, my car is not a 4-Matic. The engine specs are the same though, with the main differences being the transmission and axle gears. You'll have a noticeable bump in mpg and power as you put on some more miles too.
