Type of headlights 2005 E320

How can you tell what type of headlights you have? Is there a visible difference between Bi-Xenon and Halogen?

The BiXenon lights flicker to life like a flouescent lamp and are bright, pure white. They are not yellow at all as the inner lights are. (Pre '07 MY)The regular headlights are instant on & look yellow by comparison to the Xenon. They are the same color as the inner lights next to the grille.

The difference in illumination is stupendous.

Quickest clue: if there are headlight washers, lites are HID.

if there are not headlight washers, headlights are halogen.

This does seem to be true with the 2003-2006 models, however the local dealership in my area has been getting several 2008 models with the P1 package with Headlight Washers as an option, with Halogen headlights. Appears that Mercedes is possibly saving money and creating only one front bumper with the headlight washer doors? Not sure about the 2007 models.

They NEVER order many cars with options and never order xenon headlamps. I was surprised when driving through there and seeing all of the washers. When I looked at the window sticker, that explained it.

It seems that those headlight washers (now charged unless you get BIX) are part of the free sport package. I have as yet to see a regular E with those that didn't have BIX and/or sport package.
