i did this write up because i couldent find any speaker info or how to remove the grill so i did it my self to help you guys out.
the link has pics and info and if ya got any questions just ask.
the first pic is of the speaker(duh) and i was going to replace it with an aftermarket speaker but i had it tested and it is a 1.5 ohm and its very shallow so no aftermaket speaker will wire up or fix so i guess we are stuck with the stock replacement.
the second pic is of the grill removed and it shows the tabs the need to be pressed down to remove the grill.the easyest way is with a real skinny flat screwdriver or some this simular and push one tab down and pull the grill up on that side and hold it the press the tab on the other side and it should pop up and toward you.
the third pic shows the grill removed and the speaker hole is at the top.
the red circles show where the tabs are.
hope this helps you guys because i looked on most of the benz forums and could not find and pics or info on how to remove the grill or any info on the speaker.
have any questions just ask. i will also post a link to this in the general section as well as the 211 e class section. oh and i forgot that the speaker is $130 at the dealer

Did you make it to the auto show yet?
BTW ShaunLS1 don't recommend a screwdriver on a dash, there are plastic tools designed for that, and won't leave a mark or impression.

the screwdriver only goes inside the grill look at the tabs in the pics. you need some thing thin and flat to push the tabs down.
oh and that morel midrange is 8ohm and the logic 7 speaker is 1.5.

i have been thinking about adding an aftermarket sub in the stock location.
i installed a 10 inch square kicker in my cuzzins 04 caddy cts. it has a simular set up like the benz and i took out the stock sub and made a sub mount out of mdf and screwed it over the stock sub hole and then cut out the hole for the sub and mounted it to the rear deck and then mounted the amp up side down on the rear shelf. im thinking about a system about the same as that.
and it sounded really good and hit hard but was clean. ill work on it for you guys.

I have two 12" solobarics in an unported box in my trunk, it sounds good now but it would be really good if I was able to remove the stock subwoofer to have some sort of porting. Keep us updated!

Center grill rattles
My center grill sometimes rattles. Does anyone have any suggestions for quieting this thing down without muffling the speaker or blocking the air flow?

The solobarics are great subs I have one in my Volvo and I am trying to figure a good place in my 07 E-350. The AGW will not drive them so change is needed. If anyone figures how to get one into the location where the stock sub woofer is located that would be great.
I had to pull the grill of my center speaker and it was a little different. If anybody needs pics let me know. I also installed a cell phone holder from Panavise if anybody is interested in pictures.

I had the same problem with the center channel speaker for my 05 E55 and had to buy a new speaker from the stealership($120).
Easy to change but be careful not to damage the leather on the dashboard while removing the mesh . . .
And here are some pics how everything looks like while apart.

Had the same unglued speaker problem in my 04 E500. Y'all liev probably in a hot climate like me in Houston?
Anyway, I saved my self $120 by glueing it back together myself. Not difficult if you are somewhat of a handyman. Once you have the speaker out, just unsolder the contacts and glue both surfaces (top rubber and lower corrugated fiber?) back in place witha a good glue. I used TipTop SC2000 which i keep at home for weird little things like this that require a glue that won't come off EVER. This stuff is designed for repairing mining conveyor belts. I will come back and post if it comes unglued.
Once glued back in place, just solder the contacts back as they were and you're done.
I recommend not removing the old glue from the rubber and fibers as you risk damaging it and loosing its original shape which is critical for the speaker. It will also help you keeping it centered.
Now i can buy myslef the Ipod Kit for the $120 that i saved, or lots of beer...
Cheers!
