Passenger side mirror adjustment issue.

Hi guys,

(04 500)
I am really tired of this problem – very often (like 1 out of 3), when I start the car, the passenger side mirror is off a lot. Sometimes it goes in, sometimes up, sometimes down. And this position gets stored in the memory, so I have to readjust it and restore it (which does not help)…
Did anybody have this problem?

Well. the mirror is NOT adjusting itself when the car is alone. How does it get misadjusted?

I don't know how it happens, but in the last couple of weeks I have had the same thing happen but on the drive side. It's very odd. I basically have to store the position each time I start up in the morning.

I've had the same problem with both mirrors. I had to disable the passenger side convenience tilt-down feature in reverse because it kept trying to go further down than physically possible - so it made grinding sounds. Sometimes it simply moved to a different position then in memory setting.

The driver side also has a mind of its own. I constantly (once a week or so)have to adjust it then save it to memory again.

Also, as I said, this new position gets stored in the memory! - "They are watching us!"

I think it could be related to the key programming..? Also, just guessing here, it could be related to the passenger side mirror reverse future – maybe when the shifter goes through the reverse gear, it gets confused?

Do you always use the same key? If not, turn off "Make Key Dependent" in the Settings Menu.

(Key Dependent is a setting choice which has been deleted on '07s.)

Also, the little black slider which releases the metal "Valet" key from the smart key, comes in different colors. The 2 keys supplied should have come with different colored sliders, but usually are always black. Maybe 2 different style key chans would help you always use the same key, if this is the problem.

I would probably just turn off "Make key dependent" anyway. This will make radio/mirrors/seat memory the same for all keys.

I always use the same key, and this key memory future was turned off. Actually, I tuned it on today - will see what happens.
