Passenger side view mirror replacement
I have 2005 E500 in black. I just busted the passenger side view mirror. The mirror glass is shattered, the clear plastic covering the LED turn signals is gone, and the plastic piece around the outer edge of the housing (surrounding the opening where the mirror glass goes) is split in half on the outer edge.
1. Are these really separate parts or do i just get a whole new mirror?
2. If I buy the parts, is this a repair I can do without spending a whole day or buying some obscure $100 tool that I'll never use again?
3. What should I expect the dealer to charge me for replacement?

You do not need special tools to disassemble and reassemble the mirror, just some basic knowledge. I believe there are threads with photos showing hot to do it but now that the mirror is "disassembled", you probably can figure out easily how it works.

anyone knows where to get the replacement mirror parts other than the dealer? The dealer wants $200 with tax to replace the clear lens cover!
