Top speed?

Does anyone know what the 08 E-550 4-Matic top speed would be? I believe it is limited to 130 mph in U.S. but just wondering what it would run on the autobahn w/o the electronic limitation and with adequate tires. My former 01 E-430 would run right up to 130 w/o any dead spots. And this car has over 100 more h.p.!!

Electronically limited to 155 mph for e500. Even the E55 is limited to 155mph with significantly more hp. Only way around this is with ECU tune, I believe. I've hit the 155 barier with my E500 (of course closed course w/professional driver).
Without limiter I would say maybe 170mph, at which point it would probably runn out of gearing. With taller rear-end gears and enough road, who knows, maybe 185

The E-430 4-Matic was limited to 130 which I verified. I thought only the AMGs, etc. were limited at 155. What was the reason for the change? I also seem to recall that maybe the 4-matic was different due to all season tire requirement. Is it possible you are only speaking of the non-4matic?

I understood he was referring to the speed on an autobahn, that is cars in Germany (or Europe). All MBs are limited to 155 mph in Europe (some do less).

I didn't know MB engines were speed limited there. I guess my question is still, is my E-550 4-matic limited at 130 like the 01 E-430, or is it 155, and does the 4-matic enter into this? As far as top speed for the 550, I'm hearing 160 plus - kind of a moot point I guess. The 550 is such a terrific engine it is nice to know its potential nonetheless.

Top speed for e550 is around 165-170mph. Somebody reported that could bring it to 185mph after tuning.

You can calculate top speed keeping in mind max RPM (6,000), differential ratio, and wheel radius.

Although I have not checked, yet, the E63 P30 has the limiter at 186mph (300kph).
