Please help identify this broken part

While driving today, my wife drove over something, and broke off what seems like some kind of cover. It's located on the bottom side of the engine about 3 feet from the front of the car. It looks like it was connected to the car frame, and now there is just a hole there.

Hopefully these pictures will do the trick...

Thanks for your help,
Kevin

RE: Broken Part

One of your pics shows the part number, I would call or take it to your MB dealer parts department and have them confirm what it is (was).

Good luck.

I can't tell how big it is, but at first glance it looks like one of the three "jacking points" . I looked in WIS but couldn't find anything...

I agree about the looks. Perhaps it isn't an MB original part? Looks very much like this A203 997 01 86.

Did you have a look if one is missing?

It's not a jacking point

Thanks for the responses, but it's not the jacking point since it's in the middle of the car. I was able to find this part number from one of the online store, and the part is called a "plug". There was no additional description. I'll call MB today as one of the poster mentioned to get to the bottom of this.

There is a jacking point in the middle too, at the front. But a bit odd when the part number does not appear at EPC. W210 has some very similar part numbers but not the same.

Got it now, was reading the part number incorrectly from the up-side-down photo. It is A002 997 32 86, that is the jacking point from the front of the car.

Part 350 here:

I've called the Parts department, and it is a jacking point for a lift rather and standard jack. It's $7 out the door.

Thanks again everyone!

why do you need to take the skid plate out to change the oil? Should you suck it out through the dipstick hole? Just wondering...thanks

I prefer to drain my oil by removing the drain plug as oppose to using a Topsider or pump to suck out the oil. You have to remove the skid plate to access the drain plug. While I'm down there, I also wipe out any grit.
