Question importing

how much is it to import a e class from the uk??like taxes and all that anyone know

You save 3 to 5 thousand from Canada

Only problem is that you most likely would have to purchase the car used from a Canadian citizen who had purchased it new or be limited to used inventory at a Canadian dealer that was at least 8 months out from having been imported into Canada. Lots of used Mercedes which are turned in on trades to Canadian Merecedes dealers get shipped to the US and it hardly costs anything to switch out the parts needed to have the gauges read miles rather than kilometers. Just last week a Canadian dealer offered me a loaded S class model less than two years old with approximately 20,000 kilometers on it that can be had for something like 55,000 Canadian which translates to something like $40,000.00 US.

Northbenz, are you talking about Canadian legal requirements to export a car or are you talking about MB dealer requlations? It would be so cool to be able to buy a new S 430 std. wheel base, which is basically the same price as a fully loaded E 500.

Question I'd have first: Was that car in an accident? That price looks too good to be true for a hassel and accident free vehicle.

P.S. you can go to the Canadian MB site and see that a new short wheelbase 430 S-Class MB starts at about CND $95000. I do not believe that MB would depreciate that much in under 2 years or something is really out of place. Maybe the $55000 price quoted is in US $?

Only speaking about MB dealer regs. Apparently there aren't any significant legal restrictions on importing a used vehicle from Canada into the US, or new one either for that matter but Mercedes frowns on US Citizens getting new Mercedes from other than MBUSA. Used models they don't care about apparently. Apparently what happens is if you buy a new Merecedes in Canada that is less than 8 months in the country and then drive it across the border and have it serviced at a US Mercedes dealer all kinds of red flags go up and the Canadian dealer that sold it ends up losing his profit on the sale somehow.

As to whether the price quoted for the loaded S was Canadian or US I assumed it was Canadian since that's where I was when it was quoted. The salesman was simply looking at an inventory of used Mercedes on his website and commented how this one was a real bargain. I suppose you could just as easilly go to the dealer's website and see what their current inventory for pre-owned models is now. Shouldn't be that hard to dig up on the internet from anywhere in the world.
