Horn Upgrade

After doing a search I am still wondering if there is a Hella model or other mfg. horn upgrade that can plug and play in my 08 E-550? Looking for something that does not require any modifications. It is definitely a wimpy horn and can't see that it would do any good if I needed it. Have e-mail in to Hella but haven't heard back yet. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yeah, I would like to replace the horn on my 320 as well. Maybe the 550 and 320 can use the same replacement horn? Any suggestions other than an air horn would be great.

Horns

Below is a link for the PIAA single or double horn sounds. Does anyone know if the E-550 has one or two horns - I can see one near the front of radiator but I think someone said there was a second one and that headlight had to be removed? Could a single or double PIAA horn be connected w/o problems?

bump....

I'm also considering adding a PIAA "Sportshorn" to my '05 E320. Any feedback on these horns and their adaptability to the E-series will be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest the horns from the W126 series is a good candidate. It has two modes, two horns and the "fanfare" mode is loud and Benz like. With such old cars the parts are bound to be cheap.

I would imagine that this setup is also very cheaper with lots of such cars in junk yards.

I wonder if the horns from the W240 Maybach would swap in? They are nice and loud with a classy, authoritative sound.

You can search 240 part # 2405420020 used however, note 240 two horns mounted together as one part 211 has separate tweeter & woofer horns so may require wiring revision.
