Any changes to the 2009 E class?
Are any changes being made to the 2009 E class? Will it get the same navigation hard drive system as the 2009 SL will get?? Engine changes? Thanks.

Good question. Every other Benz has the new hardware for 2009 so the E should get it, but 09 is the last year so they might not. Hmmmmm.... Won't know until MB officially announces their 2009 lineup sometime this summer. Definitely no engine changes.

With an expected model change to W212 generation for MY2010 (mid to late 2009 calendar year), I don't think MB would tinker too much with the W211.
The MBUSA rep I spoke with at the AMG Night last week at the NYIAS confirmed that the new E-class will be here next year, but didn't divulge exact date or other details despite some less than subtle prodding.

MB might offer some optional features for cheaper or free which they've done in the past to move the last production year models.
No major changes however ..

I doubt we will see anything more than a "final edition" of the car as happens with every model, different wheels, trim, etc available. It is also possible that MB will introduce the 350 CGI engine, but we do not know if it will happen next year.

I doubt MB will introduce a new engine for just 1 year. They might tweak the 3.5L V6, but thats about it. Of course the E320 Bluetec will be avail in all 50 states.

I was thinking that too, and I'm sure the C350 will get the new V6 from the 09' SLK350, but I'm not sure about the E. Mercedes has put a new engine in an old model before and they've also hung an old model out to dry with an old engine during its last year too..while the other newer cars got new engines. Hard to say.
C350 I'm sure will get the new engine, but then again the 09' ML350 didn't so....? If the E doesn't get it then the CLK350 probably won't either since it is also a last year car for 09'.
It is pretty obvious that we won't see a really "new" V6 for quite a while. They have several versions of the current 3.5L V6 all over the world. One version produces 315hp in the European SL350, than another with direct-injection (CGI) produces 292hp in the E350 CGI, C350 BlueEfficiency, CLS350 CGI in Europe. Mercedes' 3.5L V6 is all over the place. Seems to me some simplification is in order. One version with same hp rating/strength all over the world like the 5.5L V8.
What Mercedes needs now is a 325hp version of the 3.5L V6 with direct-injection and any other tricks they've got since they've fallen behind in the V6 hp race. I can't believe BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, Acura and even Cadillac all have 300hp+ V6s either on or coming to the market in this year (Acura), and Mercedes doesn't. They lead in V8 hp so why not V6?
