Yes, I'd buy another E500 but plan to keep my existing one for several more years.

My boss is already pissed that he has to park his honda civic next to my E350, if i would pull in in a Maserati, i think he would go postal on me. All dreaming aside , my next planned car is the MY 09 E350 or E550.

Ok, I'm only on day two of ownership but I LOVE this car. For being a V6 I am very impressed with the get-up and the smooth shifting of the 6 speed. I do have to say though, and I know some of you may disagree with me, that the 212's styling is less than appealing. Am I alone on this one? I feel like MB has lost their way in trying to make all lines of their cars look like "mini S" cars. When the time comes, and no time soon for that matter, I would like to buy a new E Class but not with the direction the new 212's are going.

I am a big fan of 212 styling, so perhaps you are only one who stick with older design.

i'll join the "had a POS 03 and wouldnt buy another MB ever" club. its a beautiful machine, and is wonderful when its functioning properly. but the only thing i'll really miss is the good service i found at my dealer. hopefully my new car wont bring me into the dealer quite so often though...
just my 2 cents. i realize many of the quality issues were fixed recently, but like the other guy said...fool me once...

Agreed -- I can't stand the 212 -- it's much too flashy. You have to wonder whether it'll hold it's style in the same way that the 211s have.

You're not alone. I'm not too big on the direction they're going in either. Ironically, if you look at the new 7-Series, just as everyone else has copied the hell out of BMW's overstated, aging poorly (IMO) designs, they've gone back to a nice, classy, clean, sleeker and understated look again. I hope everyone copies them again with that.

RE: Buy another E

My 2007 E550 has been a great car, it is my 2nd E after my 05 E500. While my 07 had a couple of new car issues, all were resolved over a year ago and I have enjoyed 100% trouble free service since.

I am likely a candidate for 2nd model year of W212, provided the styling grows on me, which I'm sure it will. I pondered upgrading to a W211 E63, but given that MB announced that the W212 E63 will debut 6 months or so shortly after W212 comes out, I've decided to keep this one a couple of years until then, as I really like it.

That being said, I also really like my 09 Caddy, which has been completely trouble free since I bought it, is pretty well put together too, and is every bit as entertaining as an E63. I only mention it because it did remind me that Mercedes, as good as it has become, is not the only brand on the market.

Won't buy another and I speak from experience having owned a 2001 E320 wagon, a 2005 E500 4Matic wagon, a 2007 E63 wagon, and a 2008 E350 4Matic wagon. Unreliable and depreciate like a rock falling down a mountainside. Also you can't get power folding mirrors unless you're in Europe, no heat/cool seats or dynamic seats unless it's an AMG or it's a 2006 or older, no heated second seats, no power open and Close trunk/tailgate, no auto hibeam feature, no auto sxit seat, no tilt down mirror in reverse, bixenon headlights not standard, no intermittent rear wiper, no power 2nd seat headrests on wagon after 2006, no remote start, no power adjustable brake/accel pedals, and archaic navigation. When MERCEDES marketing and engineerig gets their heads out of their asses then I might take another look.

So why you keep buying E classes in the last 8 years from 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008....

2009 SL550 Roadster Diamond White, 2008 CLK550 Coupe Obsidian Black
I would buy another depending on a lot of things. I bought my 2004 E320 back in Aug 07. It came with heated/ventilated seats, dynamic pulsing seats, pano roof, bixenons, black wood, airmatic, led tail lights, sports package, blue tint, harman/kardon, 6 disc changer. Loaded really well. I love this thing, just wish it was a 500 and then I would never sell it (as long as it can run). I stayed away from the higher year ones (05 and 06) due to: 1. more expensive at the time and 2. was not getting as much in options since many have been removed. I love the 550 engine, however, I don't like how it doesn't even have, at least, 4-way electronic lumbar like the E63 (no more dynamic seats on 550 or 63). Even at that, the E63 should come with the dynamic seats, but I would never buy a 63 (maybe I'll drop a 550 engine into my car one day ). I don't like the numbers on the 63 engine as there is very little torque compared to the 55's (also compared to 600's). I think MB messed up big time with that engine and I heard they're gonna rid of it soon for a V8 biturbo instead (even for the 65). I also don't like the really sharp/pointy look of the 07+ E's. I actually also like the old tail lights as well.

If anything, I would really like to get a white 2009 997 911 Targa4 with grey interior next (not S though, again, I have my reasons). 345hp (the 09+ have 345 instead of 325) with all the pluses of a convertible without all the minuses.

E-270 Avantgarde
I bought my 2003 E270 about ten months ago. Having spent under £2k on service and other niggly issues, I'd still buy another one. This car has had more problems than I thought imaginable. The yo-yo-type door lock mechanism is the most recent problem I'm going to have to deal with. If I were to buy another E-class, I'd go for a newer 2006 onwards.

By far the best car I have owned.

This E500 is my 7th Benz and my 4th E class (previous were 1990 300E, 2000 E320, 2001 E430). I'm VERY happy with it (must have been blessed by the Gods as I've had NO issues with it ).

Will say I'm just not "feeling" the design of the 2010 model. Front looks nice, rear looks awful, and interior looks a little bit too "retro" for my taste (personally believe the W211 interior is nicer).

With that said, this may be my last E Class for a while (at least until the model changes to a W213 in about 7 years or so).

I'm thinking a CLS will be next

Wait what?

blkamgsl55:

no auto sxit seat, no tilt down mirror in reverse,
I thought they all had this capability?

blkamgsl55

no power adjustable brake/accel pedals
Neither do the competitors, in fact when I was shopping around I only found the D class cars to have this feature (Jag XJ, Audi A8 etc). Not that it really matters all that much to me, I think you all should be happy that the germans finally have adjustable steering wheels and cupholders

08 E320 Bluetec
I like others had problems with an 03 E55 but I find my 08 Bluetech is the perfect car. There is something about good about buying a MB at the end of that series. Eyeing the next generation E-class I like. They seem to be bringing the fancy electronic toys down from the S Class which the current E class doesn't have.

The E Class is my favorite size of the MB's Not to big and not to small. An S is too big to run around the city for me anyways.
