Clearing emission and inspection malfunction codes?

Clearing emission and inspection malfunction codes?
My independent mechanic, who does work on higher end (MB, BMW) performed a service D and successfully cleared that service code. However, these following two malfunction codes appeared and he was not able to clear them:
1) Emissions inspect performed on time?
2) Main inspection performed on time?
Any help is appreciated. More annoying than anything else, as they disappear when I scroll to the speed indicator, but I would like to get them cleared without paying the dealer $100 for five minutes of work. Thanks in advance.
