Engine noise, odd
Quite often my E320 engine, for an hour or two after I turn off the car, produces a sqeeky whistling sound. Perhaps, I theorise, air escaping from a contracting area or something like that. It was doing it again this evening (heard clearly in the garage).
Anyone ever hear anything similar?
This is not, by the way, a problem. In no way affects the engine. Just curious.

yes, I have been hearing this too so I cut back on the beans......
no, really it only seems to happen after driving around for more than an hour...don't know why.

I heard this last night for the first time when I went out to the garage after the car had been there for an hour or so. This was the first day back from 20 days in service to have module replaced. Had the car for about a month and only been able to use it for 10 days.
Even with that I think its great!
Sure would like to know what that whistle is???

Well, given that there's a pump to crank up the Sensotronic brakes that starts when you open the door, perhaps there is a timer after shutdown that bleeds off whatever pressure it is that SBC builds up with that pump.

There are other possibilities - Could be the radiator fan which can be on even when the car is shut off or it could be extracting engine heat to keep the cabin warn (there is a switch in the cabin to do this but I cannot remember which since I have not used this function yet).
