Yeah 17 inch wheels will make the car faster LOL Might as well install 200 pounds of boom in the trunk too. Really though, my e320 is actually a fast car and nothing wrong with a 6 cylinder. Than again screw a 1/4 mile time, highway is where the car can be let loose. Some things you can do is install a cold air intake "Ram air", Trans shift point and or fuel pressure programer, different throttle position sensor, larger exhaust tubing, larger muffler, heck can even go duel all the way back into 2 large mufflers "let the engine breath a little better", and you don't have to buy any special name brand crap either like idiots do. Simple larger diameter tubing and Example: 2 1979 Eldorado "Huge Mufflers" larger freer flowing mufflers will do. But the quickest way is use NOS. You can also buy small turbo's too "Does Not have to be a Benz specific part". The cheapest way to go faster is to add lightness. i.e remove anything that is not needed. In general a car will go 1/10th of a sec faster for every 100 pounds removed.
There is a lot of weight that can be removed without hurting the look of the car. Do you really need 3 back seat headrests, and seat belts, back there? (Seat belt retractors are heavy too). Do you really need 2 heavy speakers on the deck lid? Do you really need carpet in the trunk? Do you really need rear door windows that roll down, remove the heavy motors and tracking, and secure the windows up or even replace with lighter plexiglass. Do you really need the heavy front hidden real bumper? "IDK about others but I never bump into anything with the front of my car". The front plastic facia is fine for me. Do you really need heavy fog lights? The list can go on, as It all adds up.
One guy mentioned a chevy 350 swap. It can be done but that's a lot of money and work. We did a Chevy 305tbi/700R4 V8 swap on a Volvo 262c bertone. I wonder if "Jags that Run" offers the swap parts for a Benz, custom drive shaft work, whole new exhaust, motor mount, trans mount, fuel pumps, computers, wiring harness etc, key bypass, stuff like that. get ready to put 10 grand and 7 months in it.

noted above is the tcu not the ecu,it just sets the adaptive transmission back to factory settings,do it as often as you wish.
A cat back system will add torque and a great sound.
Sprintbooster is a total waste of money, who cares if the car feels faster if it really is not faster,it's pissing money down a rat hole
Rims and wider tires mounted on the best light weight rims will reduce unsprung weight and make the car quicker and better handling.
Money spent on good suspension mods and a good racing school will be the best money you can invest in your ability to properly extract all that the car is capable of.
ohlord
It will be faster 0-60 because it gives you torque quicker .
And gets rid of any drive by wire throttle plate delay experienced by many makes of cars that makes pulling out quite dangerous .

Yay another zombie thread.
and chock full of painfully dumb suggestions by our favorite Mom's Basement dweller who likes to keep his car running 115mph or so on our highways.
Dood. Go outside and play. The OP hasn't been here in 10 years.

The best mod you can do for the best bang is change your transmission solenoids to BLUE TOP Solenoids and get faster firmer shifts $350 for them plust fluid for filter change ....... Shifts way faster and harder and will make better use of your power level...
