Some one on this forum has that happened to them also, you should search on this topic. As I remembered reading up something very similar to your situation before. The guy ending up buying a set with power folding mirror. There is a link to that website where he bought it from. Hope that give a little lead way to your situation.

Exact same thing happend to me, both mirror casings were stolen in broad daylight. I got mine done at the dealer for $1184. This is not an isolated incident, and those people selling them on eBay should be investigated.

I don't think they can be altered to become steal proof. The robber probably uses a screwdriver or small crowbar. It happened at my work parking lot at noon. What makes these people think they aren't going to get shot, crack? These people just hang out and wait for you to leave your car, then they steal the mirrors in under 30 seconds and dissapear. Not much you can do except have a private security guard for your car, or a camera pointed at your car at all times.
