Wagon automatic luggage cover

My E500's retracting luggage cover isn't retracting any more. Anyone had this happen? I'll get it to the dealer but maybe I"m doing something wrong and can fix it easily...

Can't help I'm afraid, but will watch the thread with interest.

Do you mean the motorized retract when you open the tailgate?
Or,
when you unhook the cover and have the spring wind it back in?

I have about 6inches that hangs out (fnar fnar) after I unhook the cover and allow the spring to wind it into the dispenser unit. I think that over the yrs the rubbing of the cover on the cargo area seat belts (if they are not "parked") have loosened the seam on the edge of the cover, and it just can't wind in fully.

Good luck

The cover in my E55 wagon quit working and it was a bad motor or something, I believe. Fixed under warranty & working fine now...

The motorized retract is the problem.

I've had it happen twice. Both times it required the motor assembly to be replaced by the dealer. This time my cargo cover squeaks like crazy when going up and down.
