Anyone DIY installed Renntech ELM v1? Looking for info and manual.
Hi guys,
Did any of you install the ELM unit yourself? I just wanted to confirm that the e500 has a 3 sensor setup? I know there are discussions that the e55 has 3 wires. I have an 05 e500.
The Renntech website only has the v2 installs. The v2 manuals has sections for 211 4-wire and 3-wire. I had sent Renntech a request for the v1 install manual and they sent an incomplete manual. Pages 12 - 21 are missing. The first few pages, 8-11, dealt with installation on a 211 4-wire airmatic.
I just wanted to make sure before I bugged Renntech again. Otherwise, if anyone has the v1 manual, can you forward it to me?
Thanks for your help.

I looked at the instructions again and it is not about the number of sensors but the number of wires associated with the sensors. I think what threw me off was in reading this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/159185-renntech-lowering-module-special.html
vrus posted a pic of the instructions starting at pg 12. My instructions start at pg 8. In the v2 instructions, pg 8 is the 4-wire install while pg 12 is the 3-wire install. Since I was missing pg 12 (- 21), I assumed I was missing the 3-wire install and needed to do the 3-wire install.
In looking at the actual instructions that vrus posted, it was a 4-wire install.
In any case, I think I have it figured out.

Let us know how it goes. The only reason I haven't purchased an ELM yet is I'm afraid of the DIY install. And I fancy myself a pretty smart guy. I've had nightmares of a dropped suspension on Interstate 95!
Good luck!

Well, if you buy the v2, it is pretty straightforward. My "problem" is I bought the v1 and I am trying to find the parts needed to DIY a harness so I don't have to cut into the OEM wiring.
The v2 install comes down to
1. Disconnect battery
2. Get access to the harnesses
3. Swap pins
4. Reconnect components
5. Reconnect battery
6. Play with settings to set height
You should (if you have not already done so) download the manual from the Renntech website and take a peek.
