With the W211 they seemed to have slimmed that down a bit.
Great point. MB never used to use "dummy" buttons, but now they do for cost saving reasons.

You are right. One might argue that it keeps production costs down and perhaps part availability up (I hear some of the wood trim on the W210 is hard to come by with certain combinations - i.e. especially with the COMAND opening) but out of all of the Mercedes-Benz vehicles I have owned there are no "blanks" anywhere in the car.

Gives me something to rag my friends about when I push on a "blank" in their cars and it does nothing!
