I know the MPG isn't that far off, but possibly better?

Also, that 29MPG is just about what I get in my 350....Maybe slightly more on perfect stretches, but wow. Makes me wish I had an 8. One thing to note about the 350 is, it's definitely no dog like the 320 is IMO, it's really smooth and has nice power, especially in the upper RPM's. and is a much newer design than the 500 Motor.... That being said, nothing beats the feeling and SOUND of a V8.

The thing that gave the V6 a NO CONTEST victory over the V8 to me was the Airmatic, some people see it as a plus, I see it as a minus. The things are going to have expensive $$ repair bills sooner or later, and if you choose to have the Car without Warranty at some point, it could hurt.

My 06 E350 4matic does 19 ... The max I've seen it go is 25! Never seen 29s .... Does that mean I need to take it in for a tuneup ? (production date 03/2005)

I got it for 23,5k w/41k miles .. its pewter over black, base except 6 cd changer n 4matic & sunshields...

Hmm, sounds a tad low but that 4 Matic eats up some MPG's so that could be about right.

Two things to keep in mind, 1) The 500 is probably geared higher than a 350 or 320, giving lower high-speed rpm (less friction, etc.)

2) The old 3V SOHC engines had a much "milder" tune than the new DOCH 4V engines, which is why they did not produce as much power, and that may possibly save on fuel.

Between the two, I am guessing #1 has the largest impact, especially on 4-matics. The 5-speed transmission does not have those tall highway gears, so the shorter real axle ratios on the 6-cyl models give them a disadvantage on the highway.

Hmm, makes some sense, but wow indeed.

This is OT, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess, based off of what I've heard and owning different V8's in both SOHC and DOHC, that the 3V 500 Motor *feels* like it has more low end Torque on the road during City driving, due to the fact that the 550 Motor seems to like to rev more with all the extra breathing?

hmmmm... food for thought. To go to a e500 I may have to go '05. Those were a little rarer.

As long as the car is CPO you can buy a warranty until 100k miles, so I would not worry much about the year of the car. Anything that will go wrong should happen by 100k. Once the 350 came out, far fewer people paid for the 8 cyl.

So I did it!!

Just got back from Chicago this afternoon.

Found a few E350 4 matics. Some were priced low 30's others around 27.
Purchased 1 w/ standard equipment - DVD nav, roof , Gray on charcoal. Clean carfax. 1 small ding on roof and needs new tires but nothing major
Out the door with 37K miles @ $26.5k. Original in service date 5/5/06. So I've got roughly a year to get an extended warranty. Drove really nice. Played with an previous gen M3 and a 928 on the highway on the way home. She pulls pretty good for a V-6. Definetely not as sporty as an Infiniti M35x (the other car I was considering) but the ride was so nice that I forgot about all of that. Plus the M35x is kind of loud. Just my $.02.

It was cool to blast the highway in the Merc train, me in the E and the wife in the ML. The 928 kept getting confused on who to follow the ML or the E haha.

Anyway I got down to $25k on 2 cars but they sold rather quickly. Found another Black on Black E350 but it was just from the auction and not cleaned up. Almost bought it but decided to check other dealers. Called back 2 hours later and it was sold. Though I think the dealer wanted to sell it at a higher price and since I didn't put a deposit on it ...

All in all tired but I got my E and I'm very happy. Now the wife is jealous and wants a new ML350, lol.

No not CPO. Hence me getting an extended later. I'll research the extendeds pretty good beforehand this time. The dealer barely tried to acknowledge the CPO on our ML320. Anyway's maybe a few hundred higher than suggested here but totally a good deal in the midwest market. Your Market May Vary.

Avg 26 mpg on way home doing average 72mph. A few blasts up to 90 mph and some road construction/Highway Patrol lookouts around 55-65.

Got pissed at M3 kicking up loose gravel at me with his huge rear tires.

Wzup with Hoffman Estates??

Does the heating package alway include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel? I ask because my 2006 E350 has heated seats, but I don't know if it has a heated steering wheel. How do you turn the heated steering wheel on?

I believe there would be a stalk somewhere on the column for the heated steering wheel.

I just picked up an 06 E350 for $20,900.

Why do you think prices are dropping?

Bad economy. Many people can't keep payments for luxury cars, so you can get almost new car for half price or even lower.

So, question for y'all...

I bought what I thought was an '06 from a local infiniti dealer for what I thought was a great deal.... $27,500 for a E350, Nav, Appearance, sunroof, Leather, etc...

Now looking through the thread, realizing I might have done better by a grand or two.

Looking at the russia code site, wondering if the 2006 was a misrepresentation? Do you have any suggestions for me to go back to dealer and get them to refund / throw in something to make me whole? Figure I might have some leverage with better biz bureau or worse.

Thoughts?

What are you seeing that makes you think your car is not a 2006? The production month and year is on your car also, so the website should not have given you any new information.

Yes, a tag on driver door side should tell you production date, I believe it isn't model year though.

Correct, production date does not equal model year.

I remember a 1995 E300 Diesel (US model) with an October 1993 production date. It was an amazing car, the only diesel I have ever seen in the US with the Sportline package and 4-place seating. Must have been an important front-load order.
