E500 mishap after few weeks owning it.
Hello, newbie here. Just got a 05 E500 with 33,400 mile. It is the platinum blue. Got it delivered 3 weeks ago and drove it to a dealership last week. They inspected it and did a service (oil change, brakes and rotors and other stuff for inspections). Getting the car back from them, message pops out that there's too much oil and need to reduce it, so I slow down a little bit. In an idle or stop the car shakes really bad, so I was like this is not normal. I have it towed back to the dealership and the next day my service advisor apologizing on what happen and found out about the cracked engine mount. I drove this car few times before doing the service and it was really running good. It was all fixed and everything is Ok now. The thing that makes me wonder is how the engine mount crack for 33000 miles only. Did the dealership at fault or the car itself? Checking the carfax before I bought the car, there are no accidents listed and the service seems to be updated.
So far I am happy with the car and just replaced the 4 tires. I was trying to buy a rims and tires (staggered) to start this as a project car since my old project got totaled (R.I.P. for my little car
) in a small accident. But decided to opt out on the plan as a project and decided to enjoy the car for what it is for now.

I have no opinion about the motor mount but the V-6 (mine at least) are prone to post overfill with exactly the right amount of oil during a change. I have shorted mine 1/2 quart during the last two changes and the indicator remains happy. This may be a problem for OCD owners but I believe the motor can make it on ONLY 8 quarts. When "overfilled" it usually posts an error code during an extended drive. Probably temperature sensitive.
Old School motor mounts break from violent downshifts and hard upshifts. The torque puts a greater load (tension) on one side and breaks it. Sometimes tranny mounts too. I would not worry too much about why and just have it replaced.

Yes it is still under warranty. However my wife and I decided to buy an extended warranty (100,000 miles)for it just to make sure.

If the car is under manufacturers warranty you can get an Extended Limited Warranty from Mercedes-Benz which will pretty much cover what the initial warranty covers with the exception of the obvious - but does cover the COMAND, electronics (all except cell phone pretty much), etc.
I assume it extended it for three years? No deductible?

Yes you are correct. It extends it for 3 years, and no deductible.

'06 E500 - Disappointed
My '06 E500 has only 30,000 miles on it and I had to replace the voltage regulator, alternator and battery. I can't believe it. A $60,000 car with these problems? In the old days, Mercedes was a quality car and with simple, regular maintenance would give you 200,000 to 300,000 without any problems. Now, it seems like the car is made to break and create great income for the service depts. AND we shouldn't have to purchase another warranty. My 4 year warranty is expired but I still only have 30,000 miles on the car? Shameful and disgusting! Oh yeah, my car is on RECALL for electrical problems but MERCEDES won't stand behind it! So I guess the RECALL is built in. I was told these "high end" cars are having many more problems than other cars. I guess the manufacturer figures if you have the money to buy one of these cars, another thousand here and there won't matter. DISAPPOINTED IS PUTTING IT MILDLY - I'VE LOST MY FAITH IN MERCEDES!!!

Good luck. I bought an '06 E500 brand new ($60,000) and after only 30,000 had to replace the voltage regulator, alternator and battery at a cost of close to $600. Now the back tires are needing replacing. I've always loved Mercedes and have owned several. I've never had these problems and am completely disappointed with the workmanship. Used to be you could drive a Mercedes for 200,00 300,00 miles without problems if serviced properly. Not the car it used to be and WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY! I think they are in cahoots to keep the dealers' service depts. flush!
