iPod - Display Artist?

iPod - Display Artist?
Just picked up an '07 E550 Sport with iPod interface. I can see the song/track title in the instrument display - is there a way to switch it to see the artist? I can't imagine that is the only view, seems like a glaring omission

No - it is a hierarchical menu system - you can go back to the album and then to the artist to display that information using the telephone button on the steering wheel. There is no way to change the display as to what is currently playing to anything other than the song title.

Figured I was SOL. I usually automatically create playlists with a mix of songs, many of which I haven't heard (at all or in a long time), so I can't go up the list to see the artist. Oh well ... quite an omission on the designer's part; they should've just used the screen for display instead of the (limited) instrument cluster.

I agree. There is no good reason why the iPod should not be displayed on the Command screen and controllable from there. That way, the front passenger could make selecitons as well.
