Why use MB Fleece filter!

I dont know when was the last time this car had an oil change, but the oil was very dark. As I was unscrewing the oil filter, the "Paper" fell apart. These occurrence happens to many non Benz Fleece filter. This time i had a camera with me so i decided to take a pic. If the car had gone for another 2-3k, most of the filter would be recirculating inside the engine.

Good photos and discussion. This is exactly why I only use the correct MB part.

True that... and most of the time they reuse the old o-rings so you get leaks.

All Mercedes OEM oil filters come with new rings so if you buy original there is no need to try to save a few pennies.

I never see that problem. I use only MB fleece filters with new orings from the package. Mine just look dirty and normal for 13,000 or so miles usage.

Shouldn't other branded fleece filters work just as good as MB? I'm talking about those made in Germany and the ones that come with new o-rings and such.

I use Mann fleece in ours and they definitely do not look like that when they are done. I believe there are two other O/E filter makers but they are not as readily available here in the US.
