Obviously you don't live in the North East, where many people heat with # 2 Fuel Oil.

Its the same fuel. When fall & winter roll around the price at the pump skyrockets due to demand for the same item to heat homes. Diesel fuel is much more expensive around here than in the warmer climates.

I drive 40 to 50K miles per year for my sales position. Mileage is a covered expense. I needed something that was not only going to be great on MPG but also something reliable. No one will argue that diesel reigns supreme when it comes to reliability.

The car is really the best of all worlds. Comfortable, relatively quiet, safe, has all the bells and whistles, unbelievable fuel economy for it's size and performance, doesn't stink or rattle like the old diesels and it's as reliable as anything on the road.

Again, what else can you get into that at 80 MPH will get 38 MPG in the quality that Mercedes produces?

No, there is no such thing as the perfect car for every need. But for my application, it is as close as it gets.

BTW, for the member looking for DIY tranny changes
