Why can't MB offer their new E wagon with a V8!! I keep reading about Europeans who have E55 wagons and every time I have to take a road trip in my wife's 320, while the kids and wife sleep on a lonely open highway...all I have to play with is the 320.:o

Where did you hear that? A MBZ factory rep told me at the SF Auto show last month they will have both E370 and E500 Wagon , each with 4Matic option when the wagon debuts as an '04 next Fall in the US. The active headlights will be available option on the US wagon models first , too.
An '04 E500 4Matic wagon would be a logical update for us but I'm leaning towards an '05 BMW M5 Wagon ( yes, that's coming ) with the SMG III tranny and 500 hp V10 . Imagine revving a wagon to 7500 rpm and 60 in low 4 secs - of course NOT with sleeping kids in back seat , though .
