2009 E350 Bluetooth phones?

While I can get my ATT tilt to pair with the car initially, it does not work when I get in the car. I can "see" it in the car memory for phones, however when I dial\receive a call nothing happens.

I then easily paired up my wifes older phone and it connected. Then when I go out to the car same as the tilt, shows up in the list but no calls come through the car.

Any ideas? Is it the phone or the car?

Which head unit does this car have? Is it the new NTG2.5 Comand or the older one? On the older one BT does not support phone calls, just exchange of visitor cards and a BT headset (where you would need a phone kit).

Phone vendor will blame car and car maker will blame phone. I have 09 and although my phone is paired well it has problems with address book transfer. I contacted support of phone, and they told me that can fix only pairing problems. So it looks like you may contact phone vendor for your problem.

Not sure about the unit, I'm assuming its the newer one and the manual says BT is integrated into the car. On the initial pairing I could send\receive calls with both of my phones. However the next time I went to use the phone in teh car no luck

Sure, but this is for the address book part, I have not heard about issues with HF calling with any of the BT adapters and any phone that really supports BT HF (give or take a few models that are claimed to drop the connection randomly).

Both units support BT, to some extent. It would be important to know the exact model. If it looks exactly like the one here, then it is the new one.

I would blame phone first. I had problems with dropping calls when Bluetooth is involved with Motorola Razr v3, call waiting didn't also work. However when I upgraded phone, all call stability problems have disappeared.

That is a good comment but I still would check first if the car has the old Comand with no car kit, in that case BT HF is not even supposed to work. From the first post I understood that calls did not succeed at all, that is different from calls dropping (if it is the latter, the OP could explain the case more accurately).
