I really don't think 93 will make much of a difference at all Seems to be non-existent in California also. You could always put 91 and some Octane Booster in the tank, but again, I really don't see the point personally.

I wouldn't know about the slowing down part of MBWorld though, I'm a newer Member, with this **** Economy everyone's probably out trying to make cheese instead of F'ing around on these Boards

Bear in mind that with the increasing quality and dependability of the 211 E class since, say around the 2006 models, there are far fewer posts of desperation by people trying to find solutions for their problem cars.

I've been here since 2004, at that time, looking for answers to all the problems I was having with my 2004 E Class. My 2007 has been virtually trouble free, so my posts have been more social than desperate searches for answers. I'm sure other people who had problems with early 211s have either drifted away or visit less frequently due to either finally fixing their cars or selling them.

We have 93 here in Atlanta (except for now as we have no gasoline of any kind). I have blended 89 and 93 on occasion when gasoline spikes and I can say that there is no noticeable difference. The 3.2 liter motor runs well on 91 or 93. If the timing advance was programmed to take advantage of the higher octane, we should see a small increase in power but if the bar is lowered for all at 91 octane, I don't think the engine management system takes advantage of the extra octane.

Curiously, I have a Honda motorcycle putting out about 120 H.P. / Liter at the rear wheel and it thrives on 87 octane.
