I had the dealer change mine - still same problem. I'm guess you guys have the bass pop. I think this is due to the panel, not the speakers. My bro had a sunshade for the back window in his CLK and everytime his bass hit, the sunshade would vibrate and create a "broken speaker" noise. He insert a think roll up paper to stop the vibrating and never put the shade up. If you take a quality test of the back panel - where the speaker is actaully attached, it feels realy cheap and makes me believe that the problem is the cheap paneling vibrating.

Any AMG Thats Around..
you have to pull out the hat shelf... it is a pain... and the speaker back there is one piece including the sub and 2 other speakers.... One big plastic molded contraption... it was a few hundred dollars (500?) if i remember correctly... But if the shelf is loose either under (in the trunk side) or above that will sound like a blown speaker...
so pump it up and climb back there and hold down the hat shelf and see what happens....

That's strange, I had some JL Audio subwoofers and an Alpine sub amp put back there, and I don't remember seeing ANYTHING there prior to my installation. I always complained about how the Harman Kardon system was lacking bass, and maybe it never had any to begin with....that is until I fixed the problem..

Similarly, directions on how to remove the rear deck speaker combo would be helpful if anyone has it. Also, having a difficult time finding this speaker combo online. Anyone have good suggestions for this? Perhaps even just a part number for it? Thanks in advance for any assistance on this.

I tried to do this the other day, to see how easy it would be to install my own speakers.
I don't know why MB does this, but it is so incredibly difficult to get them out. They give you crappy speakers then they don't want you to change them, it is very annoying.
Honestly, just change all the speakers, don't put another MB one in. If you like to turn it up, then they will break after a month.
If anyone could post some pictures if they have done this it would be very helpful.
