E320 Battery Visit Workshop Code
Ok I need help. I have a 2004 e320 and I have been getting the red "Visit Workshop" message with the battery symbol. I scanned the codes and got "no codes found" and "no pending codes" found. The OBDII scanner also said that all of my other systems were "ok". I replaced the main battery but I continue to get the error message. I have been getting this code for over a month. The car starts fine with no issues:confused. What would the experts recommend I check next?

Confirm all recalls and service campaigns were performed by having a MB dealer check VMI (have your VIN handy). Campaigns address faulty alternator and battery control module. In addition, have both batteries/connections checked – trunk (systems) and passenger side engine compartment (auxiliary) and if all seems fine have the auxiliary battery relay checked (below windshield wiper cowl plastic trim).

It could be the AUX battery too (as mentioned above among others). This would not affect starting the car at all.

Just out of curiosity... does the '07 E550 have an aux battery under the hood, or did the deletion of SBC eliminate the necessity for it? Or is it there for power to accessories when the engine is off? Or starting only?

Instead of playing guessing games all day long, go to a dealership and let them read out the faults. MB own faults won't show on OBD II scanners since they only show the common 570+ OBD DTCs and not the manufacturer's own fault codes.
