EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM MBUSA DEALER RECOMMENDATION

I called my local MB dealer to get the cost of a MB extended warranty. He quoted me a 3yr/75k and said the 3 years would start from the day I purchased the warranty and not the end of the standard factory warranty in Sep-10. Is this correct...essentially you'd be under both the MB factory warranty and the MB ELW warranty for 1 year and then have only 2 years left on the MB ELW?
If so, is it better to wait to purchase the ELW even though there may be a 15% premium since it'd be >30days after the car purchase?
Thanks.

You might check with Mercury Insurance they sell extended warranty to get a comparsion. There are few dealers listed in previous posting on extended warranties. Just make sure someone does not stick you with a one year warranty and 100,000 miles or a four year warranty with a limited amount of mileage.

1) DIRECT LINE: (530) 230-3154. The best times to reach "Lisa" are in the evenings, 5pm-8pm PST. She also has Tuesday's off (as well as one weekend each month), so if she's not there, then call back another day. If she's busy, then call back in a few minutes. DO NOT LEAVE HER VOICEMAILS!!! She receives too many voicemails, and cannot respond to all of them! The best thing to do is to be patient, and call back in a few minutes... or use Option #2 below....
2) E-MAIL: lisal@donotspam.chicocourtesy.com <== REMOVE "donotspam." FROM THE ADDRESS! If you cannot get a hold of her using the telephone, or don't have the time or patience to call, then you can also reach her using e-mail. If you are e-mailing her, please include the following information about your Mercedes-Benz vehicle:
MB ELW YOU'RE INTERESTED IN (ie: 7yr/75K, 7yr/100K, etc)
CAR YEAR
CAR MAKE/MODEL
VIN#
# OF MILES
YOUR FULL NAME
ADDRESS
TELEPHONE NUMBER (so she can call you back)
She will respond to her e-mails as soon as she can.
NOTES:
A) All genuine Mercedes-Benz ELW's have NO DEDUCTABLE! If you're being quoted a deductable, then it's NOT a genuine MB ELW!
B) All Mercedes-Benz vehicles are eligible to purchase genuine MB ELW's if they are still under Factory Warranty! (Many dealers will tell differently, but they are lying!)
C) If your Mercedes-Benz is still within 30-days of purchase, you can purchase/add-on a genuine MB ELW with no penalty. If your Mercedes-Benz is NOT within 30-days of purchase (but still under Factory Warranty), you still can purchase a genuine MB ELW for your vehicle, but there will be a surcharge (~15% I think, but I don't know how they calculate it... ask Lisa).
D) If your Mercedes-Benz is NOT under Factory Warranty anymore, but you would still like to purchase an Extended Warranty for your vehicle, then Lisa also offers multiple 3rd-Party Warranties (just like other MB dealers as well). She probably can give you a competitive rate on these as well (doesn't hurt to ask!).
E) You can purchase your Mercedes-Benz Extended Warranty from ANY MB Dealership in the country (NOT only the dealer where you purchased your vehicle from). Many dealers will tell differently, but they are lying!
I am looking for a extended warranty for an '07 E350. Just called Lisa. She no longer works there. Does anyone have another contact for warranties? THX!
Thanks

That being said some Rogue somewhere who's not doing enough business this month will realize he's got 1 shot to get some no effort business for his store from you, and will move off his price. Call around to rural, far away MB dealers in any State who you feel may be slow, ask to talk to the F&I/After sales Office, & begin the call by saying, "I'm calling from LA (or wherever). I want to buy an Extended Warranty from you for my 200X E Class 211. Would you think it over & call me back at <phone number> in a couple of minutes with your best price?
Most of the time the 1st price your car's selling dealer quoted you was twice what the Plan costs him from MB. Only someone far away from you with one shot at you will sell it to you at his lowest price. You have to be ready to say OK if the price is good to go. Realize that you 1)Gave him a time limit, 2) Told him you're ready to buy, and 3) Told him you want to buy it from him... now.
any suggestions where to call first to get that great price.
Rob
I worked with Greg Pfunder (sp?) at MB of Anaheim. Class guy, good price no BS. I called around to get a best price nationally and asked him to match it
(I don't get anything from this reco)
