Battery Question
There was a discussion a while back on the battery and what each did. I am still confused about the batteries.
1. If, God forbid, you needed to jump start your car, which battery and is it just done in a normal fashion? The same answer I suppose in the case of jumping another car in an emergency.
2. If I understood correctly, the front battery is a "reserve" and the rear is the main unit.
Anyone have a "simple explanation"?

jump start the battery in your trunk
yes, the main one is in your trunk, the other just sits there for backup purpose.
the reason that mb move the battery to the trunk is for weight balance.

Would you just jump the battery in a "normal" manner. I haven't even looked at it so don't really know how it is installed or even where it is. I will go and look.
Is this covered in the manual, Otto? I know you are very familiar with the manual and I am very lazy.

yes, same as you "normally" jump start with other cars, the w211 battery locates next to your spare tire (on the right side of spare tire). there is a black cover, you can easily move it out and you will see the positive and negative (near you). you can use jump start cables to connect them. because the battery is in the trunk, you better head in for parking your car (it is easy for other car can access your trunk.) (it is good to keep a pair of jump start cables in your trunk -- inside the spare tire.)
i think there is a session in the user manual talking about jump start but who cares -- call 800-367-6372 and roadside assistant will give you a jump start for free (you may need to wait for 20 to 30 minutes when he arrives, so it is good to know how to do it by yourself.)
