E320 Window Trim Help...

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post. I purchased an '03 E320 as a daily driver last week. I'm doing a few little mods to it... Just had the windows tinted at 18%,,, installing E55 18" reps and installing H&R sport springs this week..
My only real complaint is the window trim on the car. It was a lease return from Sacramento and the window trim is completely oxidized. To the point where it is bare metal and looks "gold"...
Can anyone lead me in the direction to get some new trim? Also, any idea how to install this? Just some fishing line and then some black silicone to adhere???

Have you tried waxing those moldings? That does tend to eliminate the purple oxidized color.

Thanks for your response... I tried a variety of products,,, including metal polishes... I have a small auto detail business so I tried quite a few things. Nothing made them look better...
I'm hoping to find some other alternatives.... I might even try out my hand at some painting.. Retail is $59 per piece of trim to get them replaced...

I noticed alot of water marks and oxidation on mine, and yeah, when the M-B trims start getting discolored they go bronze fast. I got something called "Back To Black Polish" by Mothers, it seemed to work great, and can be used on all black trim, very useful IMO.

Interesting.... It states that it is for "anything that’s plastic, rubber or vinyl"...

Seeing how the trim is metal,,, I'm not sure how that would work. But if you say it works, I'll pick up a bottle on the way home tonight.

Hmm, maybe I misread it when I bought it, it did work though, now I'm wondering if it was the safest thing to put on.... I'm sure if the results worked that well then it should be fine.

You've got to REALLY buff it though, it takes a while but once it starts blending in, it gets super smooth, and should remove alot of those water spots and such, if not all. I also used it on the black piece vertical pieces on the rear door windows, and the plastic pieces on each door on the B-Pillar, as well as the little rubber trim on the rearview mirrors. All worked really well.
