Yes, numerous ones with other wheels - Guys like Crazy4Cars install other wheels than AMG and also AMG factory catrs with swapped wheels for after-market ones

no. no , no, what I meant was, I think this maybe one of those times where people have been confused by me. I meant to say, have you ever seen AMG bodykit on a non amg car and with the standadrd Mercedes wheels on them? like the sport or regular one, not aftermarket, coz anyone could do that, but MB wheels with amg styling?

I personally haven't seen one but it CAN be ordered like that ... Like crazy already told you and as a matter of fact just like he ordered his car. Why pay for MB AMG wheels when he plans on installing different ones.

Just got back from testdriving the E320CDI Avantgarde, I have to say we were hugely impressed
Good performance, good handling, incredibly light steering, fine cabin.
The one thing that surprised us was that the test car had 17" wheels & sports suspension, however it did not feel like a firm ride at all. In fact significantly softer than the 330d sport which we are exchanging for.
This is my wifes order:

E320 CDI Elegance
Travertine Beige / Sand Nappa Leather
17" 5 twin spoke alloy wheels
Sports Suspension
Driver/Passenger Memory seats
Front Heated Seats
Parktronic
6 Disc Cd Changer
Bi-Xenon Headlamps

6 months waiting list but most definately worth the wait.
If anyone has pics of the above colour combination, I would surely appreciate a look.

Thanks for everyones contribution

In comparison with the BMW 330d sport,
Outsidethe car they were equal in terms of sound, inside the cabin the MB was slightly quieter. Maybe MB have more soundproofing than BMW.
The reason we did not opt for the Avantgarde version is because as I stated in a previous post, my wife prefers the brown burr walnut trim which you can`t get in the Avantgarde.
Therefore we had to spec the elegance up to the Avantgarde, by adding sport suspension, Bi-xenon, nicer alloys etc.
Dealership has long waiting list, it may come earlier but i`m not holding my breath.

Is there another dealer within a reasonable distance. You may find that your deal simply has a low allocation or that he just has a long waiting list. Service can still be accomplished at your local dealer...MB backs the service. It may be worth an Email or telephone call.

Did you say earlier that the wood steering wheel was standard in UK? If not you should consider it both for looks and feel.

I quite like the wood steering option, however it ain`t my car so I suppose I better let the wife have some input
All dealers within 100 mile radius are part of the same group, therefore I guess we`ll just have to wait.
We are in no real rush as we have 2 good cars to keep us going in the meantime, before the new "toy" arrives.

After testdriving the new E , if MB can churn out new models of the same standard o`r better i`m sure they can attract many potential customers away from other exclusive marks.
Thanks to everyone for the heads up

You might want to consider teh Designo range before buying teh Elegance model, it does not have the same sporty bodykit as the Avantgarde, i don't eman AMG, look closely and you will notice a change between teh lines of teh Elegance and Avantgarde.

Say how was the ride in terms of comfort on UK roads?

Bilal : can you elaborate, as if I need to look that closely then surely it is minimal.
I know about the horizontal piece running from fog light to fog light. 5 louvres radiator grille, 15mm lower due to sport suspension.
I cant say I have noticed any major differences in the lines of the two variations.

Well I agree about what you have stated are the differences. If you look at teh bottom of teh car at the front, the sides, and maybe the back, there is a noticeable difference, the Elegance models don't have this sport look. As for Designo, it is a package of different wood/colours/leathers that you can choose to personalise your car. I don't have much info, but if you go to the E-class section on Mb uk website, and then click features, then individualisation and then designo, use the small arrows once you get there to choose your colours. Hope this helps, but teh Avantgarde does definitely have a more sporty look than the Elegance, as Elegance is for the more traditional look, also check out the gallery on MB uk website and their 360 views of each model.
