there always is something u have to pay in place of something, look at technology on its own... anything over 6 years old can barely work with the products out its a shame... but that is business and that is all mercedes is... just another big business automotive company regardless of their cars, quality, name, or status at the end its just a car, and wen the new one comes out everyone wants it b.c. they always add that feature that u just need

In cases where parents have helped their young adults to buy a Mercedes, they might be thinking safety. Less ricer-boy racer image combined with better crash safety; it's not an unreasonable approach considering that automobile accidents are a significant fraction of all young male deaths.

I like your excuse to make it sound legit if a 16 year old gets a luxury car while at the same time never earned a dime in his life! Makes him feel really special, important and perhaps stuck up mixed with a fact that he will not u der stand how hard life really is (spoiled)!

Same excuse comes from SUV drivers! They say they drive on because they are scared of accidents! But what happens to the driver who drives a let's say a C-Class and the Suburban crashes into the C? Just too bad for the rest of us who don't drive a Suburban?

I admire every parent who doesn't buy his kid a car but tells him the get a job first and earn it instead of shoving it into his *** regardless of how much money the parents have!

Wow, sounds like you need to calm down. Class warfare at its best here. I buy large safe cars (E Class & X5) because 1. They look great!!! 2. They are safe!.
In your communist views, since not everyone can afford German luxury then everyone should buy old small unsafe cars; this way we are all equal. I don't care that some joe can't/won't buy large or safe cars, I care about MY family being safe and comfortable. We aren't totally communist yet!

Good that you just showed how much you know about Germany! It's not communistic just like the US is not socialistic! Great post of yours!!! So get your facts straight then post again! And no it wasn't a war on classes! But if you think Germany is communistic it doesn't surprise me at all that you didn't comprehend what I was saying!!!

Your comments are communist/socialist not the countries. By the way, look open your eyes to USA politics and you will find a lot of them wanting socialism here.
I'm done. OFF topic

I'm glad your done! You just don't get it and play it personal! Never used the word socialistic or communistic before you threw that in! I don't agree that 16 or even 20 year olds get "luxury" cars from their rich parents for any reasons! Period!

@Mackhack: Wow. What an angry reaction.

I wrote "helped" to ensure that those middle-class cases are also considered. For example, the young adult might have saved up $3000 and can afford to buy a typical crash-and-burn ricer Honda. At this point a wise parent might kick in another $2000 or so and help them to purchase a nice, calm, safe, easily afforable by anyone, mid-2000s E320 (for example). This approach can be scaled up and down the price range.

I will be taking this approach with my two kids. They will not be driving junk cars. They'll probably be driving good used MBs or similar. They will have to pay for most of the expenses. Because of our location, it'll be difficult for them to get a job without a car. Catch 22. I'm here to help.

Now, if you wish to be wildly angry at the spolied upperclass rich kids in their really nice cars, then pity you. My post was not referring to those cases.

Lord have mercy... I'm not angry, I stated my own opinion, then Mr. socialist/communist jumped in and accused me of being a communist while he expressed his ignorance. Not more not less. Let your kids drive in whatever you want. Again, it is my personal opinion that I don't agree that parents buy their kids (spoiled or not) a MB (and all other luxury cars of that matter) as their first, second, or nth car?

If we keep on bashing on a personal level I'm out then, too.

1996 E300D, 2005 E320 CDI
I'm 67, retired farmer/store owner. My first car was a 1961 VW 40 HP, "graduated" to a 1963 Corvair Monza, then to a 1964 TR4, a step backward in a 1962 Sedan De Ville, culminating in a new 1967 Camaro. All of which I bought with my own money. Why not? I was making over $3/hour then!

The last new car I bought was a 1977 Chevrolet station wagon, so it comes as no surprise I just bought a 2005 E320 CDI to replace the 1996 E300D I was driving, which replaced the 1987 E300D Turbo.

I drive Mercedes, because I don't want a rubber band drive VW TDI.

I'd probably drive a rice grinder, but they quit making diesels, except in tractors. So, everything I have is diesel, including my lawn mower, except a Kawasaki Mule and a 1989 D50 4WD.

I bought those cars up to the Camaro with real money (that's all we had then), so I paid $1000 for the E320 CDI in real money, which I thought was a bargain. Of course, I also got 36/42K warranty, 5 year dent and ding and 5 year tire and wheel warranty in that deal.

Just turned 42 and picked up my 2008 E350. I bought a 1997 E300 when I was 36. Still have it too.
