diesel engine pulsing
anyone experience their I6 diesel pulsing at about 1200-1400 rpm in drive under steady load? You can see the tach bouncing and feel it in the seat. Dealer has it now but not sure of the problem, swaping parts. I have been through 2 tanks of fuel different stations so I know it is not bad fuel

follow the link. Had the same problem. If your car has some miles on it then it may be the tranny fluid that needs changing. Glycol from the radiator can slow leak into the tranny cooler (inside the radiator for both). This is really slick stuff and gets on the torque converter and slips at low load situations. I changed mine out about 20k miles ago and the car was really bad. It would pulsate at all speeds 65, 80, you name it. swapped out the tranny fluid and it stopped. The bad news is that it's coming back again so I may need a new radiator to help stop the leak if that's the problem.
The egr valve will also pulsate your car. If you have low miles it's prolly the egr valve. Higher miles like mine (currently 100K), prolly the fluid. Change the fluid first if you have high miles, not bad maintenance anyway and cheaper than an egr valve.
If you do get the egr valve make SURE you get the new software update or it won't cure the problem. There was a software update with the new egr that replaced the old one to help fix this problem.
Good luck.

My car is at the dealership right now for this exact same problem. It's hard to duplicate on demand but I do feel it almost every time I drive it. It seemed to get worse after a tank of fuel I ran through it at one no-name station, but did it before that.
I have had it to the dealer two times now for this and they have not been able to duplicate it, so I rode with the shop foreman and it did do it some, but has never given a check engine light.
I asked them to check the EGR and provided them with the DTB so I hope they put some effort into it and find it this time.
If you get yours resolved please post what the problem was. I would be it is the EGR.

they put in a new EGR yesterday. Drove it home 3 miles and all was fine. Went out later and now the check engine light is on. Still seems fine though.
I told my dealer about the tranny coolant DTB but he said it did not apply to the CDI's
BTW this is my sencond EGR replacement. 75k miles on 2005 CDI
