Hi everyone. Did a search but could not find mention of this anywhere else on the board, so here goes:

When entering destinations into our COMAND NAVI unit, sometimes after entering the street name or number, but before being able to enter the house #, the NAVI unit requires that we select the first three letters/numbers of the postal code for the street from a list of potential postal codes (zip codes for you US participants). How few people on the planet actually know the postal code of a place???

This does not happen all the time (wife usually drives the car these days).

Does this occur on US NAVI units also?

We're running the NAVI disc part # BQ 6460232. Can't recall for the life of me what software version we have...

yup it does... even when i put in the right zip code it still took me to the wrong place. Absolute garbage NAVI unit, I hate it so much.

I didn't notice such behavior, however my navigation is newer.

NEVER happens on my 2007 USA Spec Car. In fact I have found NO Way to enter a zip code even when I would find it more convenient to do than type in a long City Name.

On both our 03 s430 and our 07 e350 it asks for city first... then select from short list... then street... select from short list... then house number range


Honestly, its better at street navigation than my garmin 60csx that i use in my jeep. But I use the garmin mostly just as a bread crumb trail when I go exploring in the jeep and to find trails my friends send me coordinates to.

The garmin works very similar fashion except it narrows down to exact house # instead of a range. I have ZERO complaints with the MB nav.

We didn't have this problem until after updating the NAVI DVD. Some bloody update.

what is the update? Is it the 2008 map DVD? I think I have that but I'll double check when I got out there at lunch.
