Trumpet Sound

Was in the garage yesterday and my car started making a sound that sounded like a trumpet making short blasts of about 1-2 seconds followed by silence followed by another blast for 1-2 seconds for about 5 or 6 times. What the h3ll is that?

Sound like it was coming from the rear...but i could not be sure before it stopped.

I thought I was the only one with that question! Just like you describe it and it sounds like it's coming from the trunk.

Is this such a stumper that no one has any ideas?

I've got to believe there are more than 2 of us who have experienced this.

Any help is appreciated!

It can be the PSE for the Multicontour/drive Dynamic Front seats

Trunk left side = vacuum pump for dynamic/multi contour seats
Right side = Airmatic central air reservoir

A DTB was released MAY08 for the S-Class (221) addressing vacuum pump droning or humming noise not aware of the same for the 211.

So are you saying you already has the cannister replaced so you are ruling that out and leaving the vaccuum pump as the suspect?
