Sirius Install and Trunk Liner Question
I am attempting an SDARS install in my 2005 E320 CDI. The install went very smooth with the exception if the installation of the trunk liner. It appears to be hitting the SDARS bracket where the pocket with net is located.
Will I need to replace the trunk liner for one that has a place for the SDARS unit?
The bracket and everything were all current MB products ordered from the dealer.

When I took delivery of my 2004 E Dec '03, SDARS units weren't yet available so the car left the factory "pre wired" and the SDARS receiver was installed in the service dept when MBUSA released them in April '04. They had to install a big black hockey puck antenna (long since replaced with smaller color matched trunk lid ones, and those were replaced with color matched roof mounted antennas like on my '07's roof.), and yes... they had to replace the right side trunk liner with one that had a moulded bulge which covered the SDARS unit that intruded into the small rear fender "cargo" net area.

Well, it depends on the outcome of the trunk liner issue and how much it costs (I really have no idea how much they are).
I needed the following items-
6-7-83-0060
SDARS receiver
$457.50
6-7-83-0084
SDARS antenna
$70.50
6-7-83-0069
SDARS install kit
$59.25
So depending on if you need to replace the trunk liner or not - so far it has not been too bad.
Since you have an E55 and Airmatic (I assume) you may not need the trunk liner. I do have a 2005 so I am unsure how it differs from the 2003 as far as prewiring, etc.

4 wheeled car.
I have the keyless go, and I was told that at least for Comand DVD drive, it's all plug and play as I have that space and door on the left side of the trunk.
SDARS means Sirius receiver?
Can you get some pics by any chance of the stuff? thanks!

I'm thinking I will need to get one of those. I don't see one specifically listed for one with SDARS, so I am assuming that I need one that is designed for the car with the "through loading feature" (code 287) and Airmatic (code 489 with the provision for the large silver bulb). Looks like part number A 211 690 74 53

Thank you for the response. Any idea what the difference is between the SDARS and Airmatic liner? I assume the Airmatic liner has a larger intrusion into the cargo area for the bulb than the SDARS unit?

2006 E350 sirius installation
Does anyone have pictures or the startek installation procedures for a 2006 e350 SDARS. I bought the receiver for my wifes car, but haven't gathered anything else yet. My car appears to have the hump in the right side rear carpet, but I haven't veified the wiring yet. I know when I installed the navigation drive, it wan't that bad so I didn't figure this would be that hard, but you nver know......... One thing different I had planned was using the lowprofile antenna on the package shelf instead of the trunk antenna

On my 2005 it was plug and play. Add SDARS to the fiber loop, connect the antenna, mount SDARS receiver, replace trunk liner with new one, and version code MOST ring.

Does anyone know how to change the fiber connections from the MOST ring. The car was prewired, but I traced the fiber cables out to the center panel at the front of the trunk and they are disconnectted inside the plastic electronics compartment. I know how to actually change them around, but I was looking for some wiring advice. It doesn't detail that out in the startec bulletin. It is actually adding the SDARS to the fiber loop
Thanks,
Thanks,

Thanks everyone for the help. I finished it up this morning and activated it. The onlything lef to do is have it version coded next time I am in the dealer so it will display on the dash.

It would expect it to display on the I/C when the Audio menu is selected without coding. What does that show when you press SAT? Without configuring the MOST ring, the COMAND may reset at random times and reboot.

I was mistaken, it does show up on the dash already. It appears then to have all the functions. I activated yesterday morning and everything activated just fine and it has great reception. I guess I will keep an eye on the command to see if I need to change anything by the dealer for configuring the MOST ring, but everything appears to work fine. All the audio and the NAV

The AGW is responsible for the MOST config - so it may trigger a watchdog on the loop to reset it. Would be interested to read an update after some usage.
