Ignition Switched hot lead in overhead for V1 install..?
Searched but couldn't find anything for this. Looking for a switched hot 12 volt lead in my E500 overhead console to power my V1... Currently I'm tapped into the D side fuse panel for power but it's not ignition switched so if I forget to shut off the V1, it sucks juice... Anyone have a DIY link...?
Thanks in advance...

I'm afraid there is no switched power wire to the overhead control panel. But the OCP does feed the rear view mirror with two 15R lines. I doubt these could source the power for your V1 but if you build a small relay and use it to switch the constant power from connector C, pin 5 (red/black wire) and drive the relay from connector F, pin 4 or pin 8. Connector F pin 4 would be ground if you cannot find a better option (brown wire as always).

Thanks for the reply. I'm sure I could find a switched 12 volt circuit somewhere under the dash but I don't want to start tearing things up if someone readily knows where I can tap into one... Thanks again...

But I was talking about the wiring at the overhead control panel, not the dash. I guess you are not expecting you could get switched power from the OCP without opening it first?

Sorry, DB, didn't want to give the impression that I blew off your suggestion about finding power in the OCP... I just hoped that before I popped the OCP and started rooting around with a VOM that someone already had a DIY for the wire I could tap into for switched 12 volts... I appreciate your reply...
