Electronic Trunk Closer - DIY?

It can be done.. ive done it but it is by no means a DIY job. The entire harness for the closer electronics has to be fabricated and that in itself is a big deal. After that the whole trunk comes apart to install it and finally the car has to be SDS coded for the closer to work.

Also Needed is a inside trunk release switch and a rear trunk panel with the trunk closer switch..if the car has keyless go you will need another switch

It's really not worth it, the option that is. Have it on our CL500, the thing has broken twice. POS, I'm afraid to use my trunk. And the nice thing on the E-s is that the standard trunk pops up all the way unlike some benzes like the SL.

I've gotten used to it - I guess if you have never had it you won't miss it. But looking at other E's and being used to Bi-Xenon, Keyless-Go, Trunk Closer, etc, it's discouraging knowing I would miss many of these options.
I have a CDI, and am looking to add an E500/E550 4-matic.
