Are there any *good looking* custom grilles for the W211?
I was looking around for custom grilles, I'm happy with the stock one, but have never seen an after-market grille for these cars besides the IMO heinous "CL style" with the big Star on it.
Has anyone ever come across one that has an OEM sorta style with subtle differences? Or anything different for that matter that you like? Even a nice looking Star one that might work on a 211 would do.
Thanks.

I think the grille area is too small to carry the sport grille design pleasantly. So aside from the star hood ornament delete, that's pretty much it.
For a different look maybe you could look into retrofitting the euro grille off the basic models (less horizontal slats) but imho our avantgarde spec grille looks great enough.

I've been looking at them too and found several that caught my eye but they are similar to the CL Style so you may not like them... My car had dark tint and Black Wheels so I'm leaning towards a "sport" style grill or "CL" style grill with black and chrome slats and the Mercedes Star as opposed to a full chrome grill or silver grill... I would think yours with dark tint might also look nice with the black grill... Whatever you decide, it appears that no matter what you get there will be someone who'll not like it from all the threads I've read about grills... As far as I'm concerned, I'm the only one I have to make happy with my choice...
Here's a couple I think are decent... First one is the Shatz grill, 2nd is from 123mercedes.com

I'll do a Search on the Lorinser grille, and 220S, I agree and will be sure to post something if I find it.

I have a Schatz grill that's been sitting around my garage while I've been using another grill style. I like the size of the star in the Schatz grill better than the huge stars in some of the other CL style grills, but the Schatz grill has too much chrome for my taste.
I was considering painting parts of the grill to either match my car color (pewter silver) or black to tone it down a bit. I've Photoshopped a few alternatives and would like to hear what the rest of you think. The car in the picture is black whereas my car is pewter silver, but I think you will all get the general idea. I would probably paint the outer part to match the car body and then some of the chrome slats black.

The Lorinser is definitely the nicest one with a big star I've seen on a 211. Another reason I don't want a Star on the grille is so I can keep the upright Star on the hood, which I love and makes for a nice image when driving ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Anyone have a link to purchase the Lorinser grill anyway? Curious about prices and different angles on it.
After the research I've done, I still think stock is the way to go for the best aesthetic results IMO

There are quite a few 3 slat grills on ebay that are..ok..but why are the slats so vertical? Are there none out there that have horizontal slats and the deeep BIG star, like the beautiful old SECs!
