We're not in Hustler territory yet, but we're easily in Maxim land, as the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has revealed itself in all but the tiniest of body cladding. Why we need to wait until next year for the model's official unveiling is a mystery, as renderings, spy photos and the Concept FASCINATION study have revealed both its outward and inner appearance in remarkably clear detail, but alas, we do, and as such, you still have a fair amount of time to wait until the E-Class makes its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

I'm not really sure I like it! The front nose looks OK but the hood line above the front wheel troubles me. There is also the angular seam with the front bumber that cuts across. My eyes go right to it. I think the C class looks much better in my opinion. A lighter color might make these seams look more prominant. It looks longer than the current model. Hopefully the car looks better in person, the way the GLK looks better once you see it. So far its not inspiring me to get one right away, which I was not planning on anyway...

needs dual exhaust pipes. its better than the pics that were surfacing a few weeks back with that horrible inclined chrome line, that was bad. this is ok, but nothing too spectacular. i am sure it will grow on me.

wow this thing looks awful. I don't even know what to say. I mean, it looks to me like this one has a type of "sport" front bumper the way the lines go doesn't it? Similar to 08 E class "sport" packages. I remember a while back seeing photoshop renditions of what the AMG package may look like on the car and it seemed much more promising. I'll wait to see that before I make any final judgements, but based on this alone, yuck! I'll keep my 08 thank you very much! Btw is this chassis the W212?

that is one car i will not be buying. the headlights are brutal, the back end is a mess, it just looks cheaper than it should IMO.

I was worried about leasing an '09 for 39 months and missing out on the new E but after seeing these pics I'm glad I will be the current car for that long. Maybe they will realize how bad this looks and change it by the time my lease is up! The front end is fine but it sucks from the back doors to the rear. What's up with the rear wheel arches? They are terrible.

I really don't like it; though when MBZ intro'd the 90's 300E; I didn't like it until 1-2 years of being out; then it kinda grew on me. My neighbor has an old 300E and I like it nowadays...must have been ahead of its time.

I absolutely love the lines of my '07 Sport, so I'm more than happy with what I got!

Does anyone think that mgmt at MB monitor websites like this? I know its a small sampling of MB buyers but it is a loyal and knowledgeable following. This car company needs to continue to produce cars that their current and new customers want to drive. Style is important when making these decisions. I'm sure the new E will drive fantastic, but its got to have the look of something you want to be in. As it stands today the pictures of the new car are not creating excitement to move into one. I just don't get it? Did any of these people that approved the design of this car come from Detroit? Maybe they came over from BMW? WTF??? So far this is a major disapointment. From the responses I've seen so far it appears I'm not alone...

I love the way the new C class looks and was hoping the E would top that but not sure after seeing this. Maybe with some wheels or body kit it'll look nicer. That rear end is so not MB.

I think when they finally introduce it to the US.
that will be the best time to judge the car.
I personally believe it will look more like the new "S" than the new "C".

I'm surprised that most of you is just awared of this car. I saw all the spy pictures plus some of the ones featured on this thread like 8 months ago.

The interior shows the gear shift now on the steering column than the center armrest console area where it is in the W211. I can't stand that.

I'm glad I went for my 08 E550 than waiting.

I'm afraid you were wrong for a couple of points: you are not the only one liking what we can see so far. I believe most at this specific W211 section have followed the early spy photos too. Lastly, I hope you will not be the first owner, even one of the first because I want to be one before you.

Luckily we have some time to get familiar with the car in real before our US colleagues. I would not consider a blind order, even if accessories are easy to fix later on, even the engine selection is not sufficiently clear so far.

I think I understand your view, but this is quite much a personal preference and in my opinion the gear shift on the W221 is good when I only need to touch it twice per journey (mostly) and the centre console remains free from an obstructing gear stick. This of course asks for steering wheel gear control for manual operation (which again is a lot better than using the gear stick).

The new E does look really good in pictures. Its just there is no body kit on the car plus the tyres are not so groovy.
The back tail lights are a bit let down tough. Not sure how this will look with the proper diffuser.

But overall this car is looking nice. I would like to see it in person before i can pass on the final verdict.
