The Magnaflows/Tips I recently installed are going to be replaced by an E55 AMG exhaust I picked up from a board member here... I'm also planning to replace my stock E500 resonator with an x-pipe to enhance the sound a bit. The E55 exhaust pipes are 2.75" and my E500 pipes are 2.5"... What size inlets/outlets should my x-pipe be, 2.5" or 3" ...? I'm thinking the pipes going into the Res are 2.5" so 2.5" X-pipe inlets are the way to go... If I go 3" x-pipe, I'll be 2.5" stock into 3" X, then 3" X into 2.75" E55 pipes... Seems too Frankensteined to me to go that way...
