Exact same car, also same problem

I have the same issue with no idea why. Started when we got the car back from having the rear cover motor fixed. I'm thinking they did not plug some cable back in.

Tele aid that came with 2004 car is analog and is now obsolete and won't work. Sticky post above

Is the BT puck recently installed? Did you buy the puck specific to earlier model W211's? If thats the case, I would redo all connections over again.

I'm not sure what you mean with that but isn't that about how analog Tele-Aid was phase out? But it was not phased out today or even yesterday, I'm guessing it is related to this point that lkcrish raised. The independent expert was trying to wake up the phone, I'm afraid he woke up the Tele-Aid system too, bringing the malfunction message back.

The owner should ask guidance from those who have done the job, it is possible to keep the necessary parts of the low cost analog Tele-Aid alive for the phone functionality while still keeping the malfunction message out.

I assume the same applies for the other owner, the car had been serviced with SDS and some default settings have been restored where they should not have done that.

Still not clear....

I guess it's possible that they "woke" up some dormant feature but it sure seems odd.

I wonder if this started on Jan. 1? Sort of like a y2k glitch?

I don't think it was a Y2K glitch. It really sounds more like what lkchrish has stated -- you woke up teleaid...

I put my BT Replacer in within 5 minutes plus some time to take pictures for a manual. Version Coded it and it works like a charm. You don't have to unplug anything. Just plug it in and you should be good to go!
