OEM Tire sidewalls
It is time to replace the stock tires on our E320 (2003). The OEM Michelins are OK and I really would be happy using the same size and GREEN rating. I have noticed a neat feature on most OEM Mercedes Michelin tires since the 70's . It is a raised rubber ring that protects the edge of the wheel and re duces curb rash. Neither Michelin or Tire Rack discuss this on their web sites. I have a set of MXV all season Michelins on another vehicle and they do not have this feature. It would be worth a few extra bucks per tire to get this. Any information is appreciated.

Don't be tempted to buy something other than Michelins. I bought 2 full sets of "other"brands and took them off due to cupping, noise and other issues at 10,000 miles. Only the Michelins run quiet, and wear well.

Rim Protection
I must be the only tire customer in the nation that thinks this is a worthwhile feature. I offer the following
Tire Rack
The "rim guard" feature is noted on the page which describes the tire. MICHELIN has now replaced the Energy MXV4 with their Primacy. This tire does offer a rim guard, as well.

Thank you for your email. We welcome the opportunity to serve you. Concerning your question, we no longer have the MXV4 line of tires that comewith a rim protector. It was a feature on these tires a few years back butwe no longer have that available. It is our goal to ensure that your issue has been resolved or your questionanswered to your satisfaction. WTF I ask a simple question. I can guess that talking to local tire dealers is a total waste of time if this is the best I can get from the "experts" .
So Michelin no longer makes MXV4 tires or just no tires with rim guard?
Primacy tires sure do not look like thay have this feature

For what it is worth: ikchris knows what he is talking about. Eddie Styles ( Michelin North American Consumer Care Rep) not so much. The mxv+4 tires available at Costco have rim protection identical to the OEM tires we have worn out. Primacy tires do not.
