Adding Voice Command

I recently purchased an 2006 MBZ E350 equipped with COMMAND stereo and NAV. MBX Bluetooth was added at the dealer (i.e.in-dash microphone hooked-up and working). The steering column has a nub where I suppose the voice command stalk could be added. Do you know what else may be involved (e.g. another DVD; re-programming, etc...)?

Sorry, I meant to write "MBZ" (Mercedes-Benz), not "MBX" Bluetooth. Cheers

you really think you'll use that voice command enough to go through the trouble to retrofit it? I'm sure it won't be cheap, I just ask because I have it in a few of my cars and never use it. Steve @ MBenzNL could probably help you check out mbenznl.com GL

I have never used voice command....its kind of like voice dialing on the cell phone. Annoying and a waste of time in my opinion.

I had it for 6 years in my c320. What I found was
1) that it was not nice to use when anyone was in the car as they had be quiet while you used it. It was just quicker to push the button.
2) I used it once a blue moon when I was alone in the car to tune a radio station that I did not have on preset.
3) Voice dialing is not so convenient unless it can dial from the phone book in the phone itself, rather than what you preprogram in your car (not sure how the 09's work, but you have an '06)
4) Navigation by voice input makes things easier. But again you have the 06 so you are SOL on that.

AMGTestDriverNJ hit the nail on the head.

It's about a $700 box that must be added to the MOST ring in the trunk.

03-08 voice control is rather useless. NTG (07+ S/CL, 08 C, 09 E/ML/GL/R/G) is on the other hand very good (uses LINGTRONIC voice regonition)

You will need the lever/voice control unit/optic lines and version code VC Present via the SDS

I Have VC in the 203/209/210/211 and it works great it will work the Radio/Cd changer/Phone/Nav map

Contact Steve @ MBENZNL.com he is a sponsor here, also look into the W220 VC control unit..It works a LOT better in the W211

What does the W220 module do that the regular one would not?

Ya, have it on the 02 CL. Only use it to impress girls in the car, but now most cars like infiniti come with it anyway so not that much impressive anymore. That's the problem with technology... it becomes outdated the day after it came out.

An interesting opinion, I always thought that technologies should simplify our life instead of impressing girls. Now I know purpose of technologies.

The dynamic seats and headlamp washers sometimes do that too. lol.

The headlamp washers seem to do it. I added the stealth package from Calibre (k40), and that seems to impress them the most.

They love the pulse function, Never tried the headlight washers, hmm... The back pano roof is a good one too. The raising and lowering (especially on ABC cars like the CL) are cool. My friends love the SOS button with the cover. They tell me that I should hook it up to something, it'd be cool to hook up an exhaust with the normal/sport feature through a button, I know Porsche has those. (I have analog so it doesn't work anymore).

My friends used to love the built in cell phone in my previous 94 S420, they thought it was the best, pure executive style.

Someone once said there are only two reasons why something is created: either for war or for s*x.
