Decent price for a 2007 E550?

Greetings all,

I've been perusing the classifieds here, ebay, and my local dealers, and am trying to figure out a good deal for a 2007 E550, 20k miles or less. I'm in the market for one (or maybe a CLK550 at the right price), but it seems there's a huge range in prices.

Sometimes I see members here post the Manheim auction prices, which, after adding $1500 for CPO, usually yields dealer cost.

I don't mind spending good money for the right car, but I want to make sure I can still look back 3-4 months from now and think "that was a pretty good deal".

From what I've seen, it looks like a great price would be $32kish, a good price around $35k, and up from there.

Any thoughts?

That sounds good, but with the economy the way it is I don't think you will hardly purchase anything and look back three or four months and think you god a pretty good deal. With the W212 right around the corner, the W211s will drop even more.

Me, personally - I think $35k would be a good deal on an E550. As you have probably read, the 2007+ cars have had nothing but great feedback. I would recommend getting a P2 package and the options you want, as they will be expensive to add later.

Most MB dealers ask a premium up front for their cars and some negotiate more than others. If you get it from an MB dealer, you can, of course, get a CPO. If you get it from a non-MB dealer, you can get the Extended Limited Warranty (ELW) from Mercedes-Benz from any Mercedes-Benz dealer, as long as the car is still under the 4/50k warranty. Depending on the price of the car, you might save money going that route. The longer you wait on purchasing the ELW, the more it costs.

RE: 07 E550 Prices

I was looking at a CPO E63 a couple of weeks ago, and was offered $39K for trade in on my P2 07 E550 sport. Mine is sort of a garage queen though, it has all of 7K miles, and is about as close to perfect as they come, which was likely refllected in their number. MBdealers are selling nice CPO units in the mid 40's, but other prices are all over the map as you have seen.

I'd say somewhere in the 30's, depending on mileage and equipment, but with the new W212 coming out and the current economy, the pricing will likely drop over the next few months.

The 550 is a great car, you won't be disappointed. Good luck, and let us know what you end up with.

I'll post a data point to help the next guy who searches for this info. I tried to find info on these prices and had no luck.

Bought my 2007 E550 with P2, Panoramic, Sport Pkg, Trunk Closer, and Wood Steering Wheel on Jan 4, 2009. Original MSRP of $68K.

19K miles and absolutely PERFECT, CPO of course. Originally purchased from the same dealer and all services performed there with records to prove it.

Paid $42K + ttl in SoCal.

This seems to be on the highside of the current market but this car is EXACLTY what I was looking for so I didn't mess around. I looked at CPO Audis, BMWs and MBZ around SoCal and most of them were used and abused. Curb rash on the wheels, paint chips, creased seat leather, etc. This car is MINT and has the colors and options I wanted if I had bought it new. Didn't want to lose it to the next guy who walked in as it wouldn't have been there long in this awesome condition.

Very similar to my deal.
2007 e550 sport, p2, pano, keyless-go, trunk closer, vented seats, 11k mi. . . again, exactly what I wanted - 45k out the door, reg, title included. Could not be happier.
Had her lowered (links), and dark tinted. Good to go - nothing more need be done. She plenty fast.

How does the CTS-V compare to the E63?

RE: CTS-V vs E63

Not to hijack this thread, I posted a little about the CTS-V in the W211 AMG section.

Quick summary: it's not a Benz, but IMHO better than a C63 (no flame intended) for the same price, pretty well put together, and is a bit faster than a stock C63/E63. Very good electronics too. Based on 1 week of ownership, I really like it, it is a blast to drive.

Very impressive car from what I have read. Would love the chance to drive one someday.
