The 5 speed is good, just had it replaced under warranty due to glycol from the radiator leaking (very common on 03's and sometimes on 04's. Never heard of it happening on an 05).
The gasoline 320 doesn't move that well. We have an 02 CL500 and it's great, so the 500 is very fun, however the thing only gets 15 mpg avg because it has a 5 speed and we mostly drive it on the streets and not highway. However, I got a C350 loaner once and it was very quick IMO, so the 350 moves very well.

Do you think for 2004 E500 will also have the glycol problem from the radiator ? can it affect the 7speed trans ? I am currently having a lot of problem with my car...... I have it for 2 years but a lot problems start to come out...... Ball joint $700, now gazoline smell (might be the fuel filter) $300... I just pray that the Transmission wont break.... i change the trans oil 1 year ago when it was 55k miles...... now it has 66k..... This car is not as reliable as I thought......

Once again guys, thanks for all your responses.
I will be looking for an '06 with an apperance package.
If I can find a nice CDI, then it will be my choice...but NOT compulsory.
someone mentioned theirs came with a P1 appearance package.
does appearance package come in different stages???

Yes, I think it is soooooo out of place to have the plastic area around the knob instead of the interior matching area around the knob. I wonder how much money they save by doing that. I know that in wholesale, you take one little thing out and it could save you a nice chunk of change.
