Hi,

there seems to be two different inside mirror types used in W211 depending on model year. One has 4 microphones pointing down, the other has 2 mics pointing up.

1. Are the mirrors interchangeable?

2. Has anybody any experience of the microphone quality - is there any difference between the two models?

 

Yes, the mirrors are interchangeable. MB changed microphone configuration to resolve poor audio quality. If you order, have your VIN handy for correct interior color.

Replacement 2 microphones above, part #2118104717 (638.25)

 

Sorry for resurrecting such an old post, but it seems to have the information I need clarification on. When you state the two models are interchangeable, were these changes present within the same year range, or is this a face-lift VS non-face-lift thing?

I accidentally damaged my mirror (2004) went to the pick your part and grabbed the mirror off of an 09 E350 and the connector was different, and pins wiring didn't match color either. So I guess, I'm trying to ascertain the level of interchangeability between model years?
