Is MB planning to introduce DI on their engines?

Is MB planning to introduce DI on their engines?
I was impressed with the DI on the Cadi CTS .. wonder why MB hasn't done same as they would boost HP by approx 30 HP without hindering fuel economy ..

MB has had CGI (read CGI, I don't mean CDI which also are DI) engines on sale for quite some time. Do you mean those are not available for the US?

No, unfortunately CGI models not available in North America.
Mercedes must spend significant dollars to "certify" cars for sale in USA and each different drivetrain requires certification.
MBUSA probably feels Americans will see little difference between E350 and E350CGI. They would probably just get E550 instead.

The CGI engines currently available on MB models in Europe requires ultra-low sulfur gas which is not available in the USA. The new generation of direct injection engines for US consumption (and dirty fuel) is rumored to be available in the next year or two.
