W211 E320 whirring in drive train
I have recently noticed a whirring noise in the drive train of our E320 (2003) 86000 km (wonderful vehicle, well maintained) in the region of the gearbox softly noticeable outside at idle and also in the cabin when driving. Sounds to me like a bearing? any thoughts as to where to look first? We have changed auto trans oil which seemed to reduce it a bit and confirming a bearing possibility (?). It has now returned to prior levels. Any past experiences valued. Thanks.

Post this over on the W210 forum as a new thread and ask for Oh Lord's thoughts. He has been knee deep in these drive trains and may have some good insight. I know you have a 211 but that is where he lives mostly. hope he can help.
